  • The Lobster Trap (508) 759-7600 has terrific seafood – and an enclosed deck where you can eat.  They sell beer and wine by the glass.  This place gets mobbed, so plan ahead.  This business also has a fish shop that has terrific fish, and will even cook a large lobster order for you for pickup.  You passed it on your way down if you took Shore Road to approach the house. About a mile away.
  • The Chartroom, 1 Shore Road, Cataumet (508)563-5350  Take a right onto Shore Road and continue for a few miles, through Pocasset (by St. John’s Church) then about another mile – turn in where you see the sign for Kingman’s Marina.  They are almost always packed for dinner, but they have a great lunch menu and it’s worth the wait for a table in the bar – if only for the local color of the boaters who tie up and eat here.
  • Pizza by Evan, (508)759-9111 just before the intersection of Clay Pond Road and Rte 28 is a good pizza and sub joint. Beach Street becomes Clay Pond Road and Pizza by Evan is on the right just before the highway. The nursery across the street has great homemade pies and corn in season –however, they can’t start selling veggies til about July 1.   They also have a big block of fresh cheddar under glass.
  • Breakfast:  you can get great muffin tops at the Beach Plum Bakery 1337 County Road in Cataumet. It’s a cute little spot with a few tables outside but none inside. Just past there on Rte 28 you will find the Daily Brew Coffee House.  There is an International House of Pancakes at the rotary at the Bourne Bridge. We like the breakfast at the Corner Café in Pocasset as well.  Becky’s Bakery is just across Shore Road and they have fantastic muffins and desserts.
  • Coffee: Dunkin Donuts – you are in Massachusetts so of course there are a few DDs – closest is at the end of Clay Pond Road by Rte 28. If you are a Starbucks fan and need a fix you have to go back over the bridge and get off at the first (immediate) exit – go ¾ of the way around the rotary and you’ll see a drive thru Starbucks in the little mall above you.
  • Sandwiches:  We like the Daily Brew Coffee House at 1370 Route 28A in Cataumet. Very close to the Beach Plum Bakery.
  • Slightly farther afield:
    • If you are going to Sandwich for a stroll and are looking for a really nice dinner, you might try the Belfry Bistro which is a lovely restaurant in an old church which has been converted into an inn.  They also hold wine tastings every Wednesday night and they’re terrific.  You do need a reservation..  They also own the Painted Lady next door which is a great place for lunch.
    • If you are planning a trip to Falmouth there are a couple of good restaurants there:
      • RooBar on Main Street is great for a burger or similar fare.
      • Anejo Mexican Bistro on Main Street – great mid-priced Mexican food – great ambiance and outdoor seating.
      • If you are looking for a nice Italian restarant you might try La Cucina Sul Mare which is at 237 Main Street.
      • If you take a ride over to Falmouth Heights there is a restaurant with a fantastic water view called Casino Wharf FX.
